GEMSBAK LIBRARY SERVICES, MACHAKOS, KENYA Gemsbak Library Services runs its services to the public in Machakos Town, Kenya. It is a private community based project that is open to the public. It operates under Pendo Machakos Chapter Community Based Organization (PEMACHA CBO) ,which is registered under the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social development in Kenya. Its main objective is to promote the reading culture among the residents of Machakos Town and its environs in an endeavour to empower those struggling to acquire knowledge from poor areas. It caters for both lower primary, upper primary, high school, colleges and universities. It is the first one to be opened to the public in Machakos Town.
Our main driving vision as stated elsewhere is to encourage a reading culture in our context by availing reading resources that are tailored to inform people in a variety of different disciplines and research areas.
This means that it is part of our mission to encourage a reading culture by providing personalized mentoring services, counselling and enlightening people on the advantages of acquiring knowledge for social, religious, political and economic empowerment.
As much as we would love to encourage and attract many people to come and subscribe as members in our resource centre, many families in Machakos Town live for less than a dollar per day and paying an annual membership fee of US$60.00 dollars for a Child to read story books from the Library is a luxury parents/guardians cannot afford. Therefore, we are appealing and seeking partnership with well meaning philanthropists who share this burden with us to consider sponsoring a needy child to read for a whole year with just five dollars a month which will add up to US$60.00 per year.
To partner with us in this venture, just send in US$60.00 dollars or more through PayPal through this PayPal email : email@example.com
or you can send a check to

This will enable one child or more children to read as many storybooks as one needs for a whole year. This facility also offers study or reference room for those who are doing serious academic research work.
Our current challenge is that there are many students who are willing to study from this resource facility, but they are unable to do so because they cannot afford to subscribe as members. Our goal is to get partners who can sponsor the running of the library in order for it to be opened to students and people to read for free, especially those who want to read and acquire more information and skills.
We are located in Munuka Building which is 50 meters on Machakos/Kangundo Road right from the junction of Susu Centre opposite St. Mary's Primary School. The Director: Sarah Kala
